Exodus 12:13

“And the blood shall be to you for a token upon the houses where ye are: and when I see the blood, I will

pass over you, and the plague shall not be upon you to destroy you, when I smite the land of Egypt.”

AS ALL THE FIRST BORN IN EGYPT WERE CONDEMNED TO DEATH SO ALL MEN CONDEMNED TO SPIRITUAL DEATH. Revelation 20:14 “And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.”

    Death is a separation. Physical death is a separation of the soul from the body. James 2:26 “For as the body without the spirit is dead...” Spiritual death is a separation from God. This is the second death. If you are born once you will die twice. If you are born twice you die only once. If you are not born again you will die both physically and spiritually and be cut off from God forever. But if you are born physically and spiritually you will only die physically.

The scriptures are very clear on God’s rejection of the first born. Cain was the first born son of Adam and Eve. God rejected his offering. Ishmael was the first born of Abraham. God rejected him and accepted Isaac. Esau was the first born of Isaac and Rebecca. God rejected Esau and accepted Jacob. Romans 9:13 As it is written, Jacob have I loved, but Esau have I hated. 

    Goodness nor religion have nothing to do with one’s standing before God. The first born of the religious Israelites was just as condemned as the Egyptians. Man is born condemned. If you are born into this world you are condemned to die in hell! John 3:18 “He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.” Man doesn’t become condemned when he does something against God. Man is born with a sinful nature. If man doesn’t get right with God He will die and spend eternity in hell. 

AS GOD GAVE THE LAMB AS A REMEDY FOR DEATH SO HE GAVE JESUS AS THE REMEDY FOR SPIRITUAL DEATH. John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” 

    Jesus is not one of many remedies for sin. Jesus is the only remedy for sin. John the Baptist said of Him, “Behold the Lamb of God which taketh away the sin of the world.” Jesus was the literal fulfillment of the Passover lamb. God provided Cain, the first born son of Adam and Eve, a “blood” sacrifice for his sin. When Cain went out to slay his brother, Able, he had to step over the lamb that God provided. If you go to hell you will have to step over Jesus and His precious “blood” to get there. God will not sent you to hell. He is doing everything He can to stop you from burning in hell. 

    If you have a terminal disease and a doctor offers you medicine that would save your life you would be foolish to reject that remedy. But how much more foolish is it to be spiritually dead and hell bound and reject the only One who can save your eternal bound soul!

   

AS THE PASSOVER LAMB WAS WITHOUT SPOT OR BLEMISH SO WAS CHRIST A MAN WITHOUT SIN 

I Peter 1:18,19 “Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:” 

    Christ was the only begotten Son of God. Christ was not the son of Joseph. He received His sinless nature from God. Christ was perfection in the flesh! Here was a man who has never sinned and who will never ever sin. He is the sum total of righteousness and holiness. He was thoroughly examined. They went through His life with a fine tooth comb trying to find flaws and imperfections. The final conclusion was: “I find no fault in this man.” 

AS THE LAMB WAS SLAIN SO WAS CHRIST SLAIN ON THE CROSS Matthew 27:35 “And they crucified him, and parted his garments, casting lots: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, They parted my garments among them, and upon my vesture did they cast lots.” 

    The cross was the most cruel way of capital punishment ever invented. The victims would hang there for days in agony as death slowly came. Jesus suffered more than anyone has ever suffered. Sin brings death. Even though Jesus was without sin He bear the sins of the entire world. All those sins combined brought about all the suffering, the pain and the very travail of His soul. Jesus died as the sinner dies. Jesus experienced the second death on Calvary so you and I would not have to experience the second death in hell. The very fires of hell consumed his very spirit as He hang on the cross in our place. My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? Matthew 27:46

   

AS THE BLOOD OF THE PASSOVER LAMB WAS SPRINKLED OVER THE DOOR POST SO THE BLOOD OF CHRIST WAS SPRINKLED OVER THE MERCY SEAT. Hebrews 9:11,12 “But Christ being come an high priest of good things to come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building; Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us.” 

    After Christ came from the grave He entered the Most Holy Place in heaven with His own “blood.” There in the very presence of God He sprinkled it on the mercy seat. In the Ark of the Covenant under the mercy seat were the laws that you and I had broken. But today when God looks at those laws He can only see the “blood” of Jesus. Only the “blood” of Jesus has the power to cover our sins. Yes, there is power in the “blood”!

AS THE CONDEMNED WAS TO GET BEHIND THE BLOOD SO ARE ALL THE FIRST BORN TO GET BEHIND THE BLOOD OF JESUS. 

    Are you protected by the “blood” Are you behind the “blood” of Jesus. For only the “blood” and the “blood” alone can save you. Are you redeemed by the “blood” of the Lamb of God? Have you plunged beneath the fountain of “blood”? 

    What will your answer be when God “maketh inquisition of blood”? God didn’t say when I see your pedigree I will pass over you. He didn’t say when I see your church membership I will pass over you. He didn’t say when I see your good works I will pass over you. He didn’t say when I see your baptism I will pass over you. He didn’t say when I see your good virtues I will pass over you. BUT HE SAID, “WHEN I SEE THE BLOOD I WILL PASSOVER YOU!!!” What will your answer be? Oh, what will it be? My answer will be nothing but the BLOOD!
