Hebrews 11:1-3

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. For by it the elders obtained a good report. Through faith  we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.

The word extrude means: 

1. To push or thrust out. 

2. To shape (a plastic, for instance) by forcing it through a die. 

3. To protrude or project. The projection of faith is an extrusion.

    An extrusion is something or some material that is shaped by pressing it through a die. Faith is an intangible thing that cannot be seen with the physical eye. Yes, we can see the results of faith just as we can see the results of love. But they are invisible to the eye. But when these invisible things are pressed out the results are very visible. You could not see Abraham’s faith but you could certainly see the results of that faith. James 2:18 Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works. Abraham’s faith produced many things and many great acts.

I. THE EXISTENCE OF THE INVISIBLE GOD

    God is invisible John 1:18 “No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him.” Does God exist even if He cannot be seen? Do invisible things exist? Are invisible things real? Of course! Air is invisible but it has substance. There is oxygen in the air. There is moisture in the air that can be condensed and made into water and even into a solid material which we call ice. Thus making something visible that was not seen.

     Yes, the unseen God is real. We can see visible evidence of His existence. Romans 1:20 “For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and God head; so that they are without excuse: “The existence of a visible universe is visible evidence of the existence of the unseen God.” Anyone with common sense that looks at a building knows that it was built by someone even if they never saw him doing the building. You know that someone built the house you live in even if you do not know who it was! If there were no builder there would be no house. If there were no God there would be no universe nor a human race nor a you!

II. THE CREATION OF THE UNIVERSE

    The universe was created solely by the invisible God. The Bible does not say neither does it teach that God made the universe out of nothing. Of course had HE chosen to make it out of nothing He certainly could have! Neither did HE make it out of chaos. God didn’t start out with a mess! God started with Himself. Genesis 1:1 “In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.”

    John 1:1-3 “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.”

    Creation was an extrusion of God’s breath and of His Word. Creation was an extrusion from God’s nostrils and from His mouth. Psalms 33:6 “By the word of the LORD were the heavens made; and all the host of them by the breath of his mouth.” God spoke the universe into existence and breathed the angels into existence! The angels were an extrusion out of His breath and the universe was an extrusion out of His word. Nothing could be plainer.

III. THE CREATION OF HUMAN BEINGS

    God took a lump of clay and breathed into it the breath of lives. The spirit that God breathed into man turned dirt into bones, dirt into blood, dirt into muscles, dirt into working feet, hands, legs, and arms. The spirit turned clay into a talking mouth, into hearing ears, and a thinking brain. The breath of God tuned a simple lump of clay into a live human being. What a feat of creation! What a God! What a creator!

    Since that time there has been something unseen and something unexplainable working in every living human body. There is something that turns food into more flesh as a person begins to grow taller and heavier. I can eat two biscuits and gain a pound. Ecclesiastes. 11:5 “As thou knowest not what is the way of the spirit, nor how the bones do grow in the womb of her that is with child: even so thou knowest not the works of God who maketh all.”

     You can plant a small grain of corn and that grain can convert something out of the ground into inches. It does not gain height from nothing. That grain of corn somehow miraculously draws and converts nutrients out of the ground into roots, a stalk, leaves, and ears of corn.

     The substance or the material or the stuff that God used in the creation of everything came directly from God. Because there was no other source but GOD! “In the beginning God …” God lacked nothing and God needed nothing for He was complete within Himself!!!!!!!

     Everything good comes from God! God used the invisible substance from within Himself during creation. Romans 1:20 “For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:” Hebrews 11:1-3 “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. IV. THE UNDERSTANDING OF FAITH

    By faith we understand God. By faith we understand the Bible. I Corinthians 2:9-10 “But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.” By faith we understand creation. Apart from faith there is no real understanding.

V. THE VISIBLE EXTRUSTION OF THE INVISIBLE

John 1:14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.” 

Colossians 1:15 “Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature: “

Hebrews 1:3 “Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person,”

     The word express means to press out. The word exit means out and press means to push. Jesus is the pushed out, pressed or the thrust out image of the invisible God. In other words Jesus is the extrusion of the Trinity into One Person! Jesus is the visible Second Person of the Godhead in the which the rest of the Trinity dwells in Its complete fullness!

VI. THE PRINCIPLES OF FAITH’S SIMILARTY TO THE PRINCIPLES OF CREATION

     Hebrews 11:3 tells us that the visible things were not made of visible things. The visible were made of invisible substances. Here we see the materialization of invisible substances. (The Chemistry of Creation & Faith) Was creation a giant chemical reaction out of the mouth of God. Wasn’t it His word that furnished the substance or the stuff that was used in the material universe? In reality everything that is worthwhile is an extrusion, a projection, or a protrusion of the invisible.

    This is much better than alchemy; which supposedly was the making of gold out of lead. The new earth will be made of the purified elements of this earth. But what is the heavenly city of Jerusalem made of. WILL IT BE MADE OUT OF THE SUSTANCE OF THE FAITH OF THE SAINTS OF GOD? 

CONCLUSION: 

ARE WE AS CHURCHES AND INDIVIDUALS GIVING GOD ANY SUBSTANCE TO MAKE ANYTHING OUT OF? ARE WE USING OUR GREATEST RESOURCE WHICH IS FAITH???

    An extrusion is a product of some sort. Faith produces things, faith causes things to happen, faith cause things to come into existence, or should I say come into sight. (When faith becomes sight) God uses faith to create things out of. God uses the faith of His children as a substance in the extrusions of their faith. Or should I say He makes things of the invisible substance found in the faith of His People. “so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.” Live by faith and watch things happen! Live by faith and watch the invisible become visible before your eyes! WATCH YOUR FAITH COME ALIVE!

    Are you living by faith or do you just have a meager existence. Open your eyes and see the unseen. II Kings 6:17 “And Elisha prayed, and said, LORD, I pray thee, open his eyes, that he may see. And the LORD opened the eyes of the young man; and he saw: and, behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha.” Open your eyes and take a journey into the spiritual realm by faith.
