Hebrews 2:6

But one in a certain place testified, saying, What is man, that thou art

mindful of him? or the son of man, that thou visitest him?

Job 7:17, Job 15:14, Psalms 8:4, and Psalms 144:3 also ask the question, “What is man…?” therefore it must be a important question! What is so special about man? He is the direct creation of God and His crowning work. Man’s makeup is the most complicated and complex of all beings, thus putting him in a class all by himself and above all others. David said, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made...

WHAT MAN WAS TO BEGIN WITH.

Man was created from the dust of the earth. Genesis 2:7 And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul. Man had a very lowly beginning since he originated from dirt. When I was doing road work, I told my wife, “I don’t understand how grown men can get so upset over a load of dirt.” She replied, “It’s because they are kin to it!”

God performed a miracle to that lump of clay and turned it into a live man. He breathed His very life into the dust. In the Hebrew language it is literally the breath of lives (Plural). Thus man became a living soul, a person, an individual, a personality. Man was much more than just a physical being.

When the breath of God took up its abode in that lump of dirt; it became flesh, blood, skin, and bones. That lump of clay became a walking, talking human being. God’s breath created a body that could function and enjoy being alive. Some of the clay under the influence of Deity became a heart that could pump blood, flesh that could feel, ears that could hear, eyes that could see, a nose that could smell, a mouth that could talk, a tongue that could taste, a brain that could think and above all an individual.

God created a fleshly body that could grow and gain weight from the food that it consumed. He created a being that could move, work and accomplish things. But more than that God made a person, literally a personality deep within man’s visible body. Each one is an individual with deep feelings, emotions, desires, and a presence of being and existence.

At the very beginning man was a triune being. Genesis 1:26 ¶ And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: notice God (singular) said, Let us (plural) make man… Here God in the Hebrew word “Elohiym” is singular in its spelling but it is plural in its meaning. In the Hebrew language there are singular words which mean one and only one, there is the dual noun which means two and only two, and then there is the plural noun and pronoun which means three or more. The word God comes from the Hebrew plural noun which means three or more which allows a Trinity. The same is true of the pronoun “us” which allows for a Trinity. It is like the word “crowd.” Thus Genesis 1:26 teaches that God is a Trinity and that man was created in the image of the Trinity; thus man at his very beginning was a triune being for God breathed into him the breath of lives (plural). Man has physical life, mental life, and spiritual life.

I Thessalonians 5:23 also teaches that man is a triune being. And may the God of peace himself sanctify you wholly; and may your whole person, the spirit, and the soul, and the body, be preserved unblameable, till the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. Man has a body, a soul, and a spirit. By the way there is a difference between the soul and the spirit. Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. Here we find that the spirit is deeper in a person than the soul.

There are three kinds of life and also a combination of the different kinds of life. There is singular life, such as the life of trees and plants. There is dual life, such as the life of animals which have no life after death. Ecclesiastes 3:21 Who knoweth the spirit of man that goeth upward, and the spirit of the beast that goeth downward to the earth?

Psalms 104:4 Who maketh his angels spirits; his ministers a flaming fire: Then there are the angels with dual life. They have no physical life.

Man and only man was created in God’s triune image therefore putting him on a plane higher than any other creature.

WHAT MAN BECAME AND IS TODAY. God never intended for man to become a triune sinner. The Bible plainly teaches the doctrine of total hereditary depravity. Romans 5:12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:

Romans 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; Every single individual that has ever lived or will ever live has inherited their sin nature from Adam; that is with the exception of Jesus Christ who was born directly of the Holy Spirit of God. Matthew 1:19 Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not willing to make her a publick example, was minded to put her away privily. 20 But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost. 21 And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins. 22 Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying, 23 Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.

Man sank to the depths of sin and despair and was completely cut off from God and condemned to a devil’s hell. Jeremiah 17:9 The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it? Genesis 6:5 And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. Man became so bad that God brought the flood which destroyed the entire human race with the exception of Noah’s family.

WHAT MAN IS AFTER BEING SAVED FROM SIN. II Corinthians 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. When man is born again he becomes a new man in Christ. The new birth is just as real as the physical birth and it produces an entirely brand new being. John 3:6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. When one repents of his sin and trusts Jesus Christ for salvation, one is born of the Holy Spirit by virtue of the second birth as Jesus was born of the Holy Spirit by way of the first birth. Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. When the Holy Spirit descends deep in the very being of an individual He divides one’s soul and spirit and produces the “new man.” From then on, he is a saved sinner still living in his carnal, sinful body. But he has a new heart. I John 3:9 Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God. The new man in Christ doesn’t sin; but the outer man sins until he dies. These two opposing natures are in constant conflict with one another. It creates a problem but it is a good problem to have because those without the problem are headed for hell.

WHAT SAVED MAN WILL BE IN ETERNITY Romans 8:18 For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us. 19 For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God. Romans 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. 29 For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren. 30 Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified.

If you are saved by the grace of God you are predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son and also glorified. These are the greatest things that God has already set up for His children. It’s like the preset in some computer graphic programs. When you have plain print or a stick drawing you just click “apply” on the preset and the plain becomes elaborate. It changes glorified into...

GLORIFED

I Corinthians 15:42-54 So also is the resurrection of the dead. It is sown in corruption; it is raised in incorruption: 43 It is sown in dishonour; it is raised in glory: it is sown in weakness; it is raised in power: 44 It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body. 45 And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit. 46 Howbeit that was not first which is spiritual, but that which is natural; and afterward that which is spiritual. 47 The first man is of the earth, earthy: the second man is the Lord from heaven. 48 As is the earthy, such are they also that are earthy: and as is the heavenly, such are they also that are heavenly. 49 And as we have borne the image of the earthy, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly. 50 Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption. 51 ¶ Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, 52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. 53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. 54 So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory. 55 O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory? 56 The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law. 57 But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

When you get saved the glorification preset which was Christ will be applied either when you are translated or resurrected from the grave and you will be amazed at what you, a creature of the dust have become. I thought about titling this article “The Glorification of Dust.” Miracle of miracles the creator has made it possible for us lowly beings to be like His only begotten Son. As the song says, “I’m an old chunk of coal, but I’m going to be a diamond, someday!”

For some unexplained reason reincarnation is becoming popular today. Hebrews 9:27 And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment: Belief in reincarnation is just wishful thinking of those who hope to escape the judgment of God. I’m not going to be reincarnated, I’m going to be resurrected when Jesus comes again and for sure I’m going to be translated and NEW THINGS AND NEW EXPERIENCES Ecclesiastes 1 :8-10 All things are full of labour; man cannot utter it: the eye is not satisfied with seeing, nor the ear filled with hearing. 9 The thing that hath been, it is that which shall be; and that which is done is that which shall be done: and there is no new thing under the sun. 10 Is there any thing whereof it may be said, See, this is new? it hath been already of old time, which was before us.  Man wants what he’s never had, hear what he’s never heard, see what he’s never seen, and go where he’s never gone, etc. Acts 17:21 (For all the Athenians and strangers which were there spent their time in nothing else, but either to tell, or to hear some new thing.) Man is constantly searching for something that will hopefully satisfy him. But it is an unending weary round of failure!  Ecclesiastes is a book that we need to heed in order to be content and especially in order to please God. We seek new things and experiences for the purpose of pleasing ourselves instead of God which only causes constant frustration.  If new stuff brought about satisfaction then Solomon would not have said, I have seen all the works that are done under the sun; and, behold, all is vanity and vexation of spirit. His lifestyle not only failed to bring happiness, but his positivity brought about a very negative impact on his life; thus creating more problems instead of solving the ones he already had. His quest for the best of the world only brought more misery, dissatisfaction, and vexation of spirit.  Solomon whines about what this lifestyle brought into his soul after he sought satisfaction in wine, women, song, new things, new experiences, and excitement. Please read Ecclesiastes 2:1-10.  Hundreds of years after Solomon, man is still seeking happiness outside of God’s will and that will never happen. Instead of being smarter in this age of education man is only dumbing things down to his carnal level. How low will man go as he seeks contentment in new things and experiences even in religion?

MANY ARE LIKE THE ISRAELITES IN MOSES’ DAY-THEY WANT A NEW GOD. Exodus 32:8 They have turned aside quickly out of the way which I commanded them: they have made them a molten calf, and have worshipped it, and have sacrificed thereunto, and said, These be thy gods, O Israel, which have brought thee up out of the land of Egypt.  They were tired of the same old God. They wanted a new god that would allow them to do whatever they wanted to do and let them run wild as some changed. God had a much higher purpose and position for us creatures of dust than one weary vicious circle of dying and coming back here again and again and again! If you know you are going to be resurrected you will forget about the false doctrine of reincarnation. I ain’t going to be recycled, I’m going to be…
