Psalms 40:7
Then said I, Lo, I come: in the volume of the book it is written of me, 8 I delight to do thy will, O my God: yea, thy law is within my heart.
Hebrews 10:7
Then said I, Lo, I come (in the volume of the book it is written of me,) to do thy will, O God.
In Hebrew “the volume of the book” is literally “the roll of the scroll.” This makes sense, since there were only scrolls during ancient times. Jesus came in, through, and out of “the roll of the scroll.” Jesus was, is, and forever will be the complete and perfect product of the Bible!!! He is the extrusion and projection of eternal Deity through the Written Word by the power of the Holy Spirit.
There never have been but two perfect things. They are the Written Word and the Living Word. They are inseparable for the Written Word became the Living Word! John 1:14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth. 15 John bare witness of him, and cried, saying, This was he of whom I spake, He that cometh after me is preferred before me: for he was before me. John was a few months older in the flesh than Jesus, yet he said of Jesus, He was before me. The eternal Lord Jesus was in existence before John was born, therefore He was before John, mankind, and all things. Jesus never really had a birthday, for He was the incarnation of God. He originated at the beginning of eternity past which had no beginning.
The coming of Jesus in the roll of the scroll (“the volume of the book”) involves the entire Bible from the first verse in Genesis to the last verse in Revelation which is much more than the human mind can comprehend. So let’s dive into the bottomless depths of the spiritual realm and meditate on the eternal truths of the fullness of Jesus Christ as described in His inspired autobiography.
Is Jesus Christ not the publisher of the Bible? He’s the one that dictated the very words of it. He’s the one that put it out and come out of it. It is the only book that has ever come directly out of the archives of heaven. He sent the Old Testament to earth ahead of Himself and He followed it four hundred years later. Hebrews 10:7 Then said I, Lo, I come (in the volume of the book {“the roll of the scroll.”} it is written of me,) to do thy will, O God. This is the exact fulfillment of Psalms 49:7.
The word volume means book, a writing, legal document, letter of instruction, written order, request, commission, genealogical register, and scroll. He was rolled up in the Old Testament scroll and unrolled in the New Testament.
Jesus is the perfect fulfillment of the Old Testament. He is the Old Testament in the flesh. He is the Old Testament come to life. What a life it was. John 1:16 And of his fulness have all we received, and grace for grace. 17 For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.
JESUS IS THE SUPREME WONDER OF THE BIBLE.
“Christ is its fulness, its Center, its Supreme Fascination.…
The Old Testament and the New Testament alike tell of Jesus, the great
Fact of History, the great Force of History, the great Future of History.
The Old Testament conceals Christ, the New Testament reveals Christ.
The Old Testament enfolds Christ, the New Testament unfolds Christ.
The Old Testament promises Christ, the New Testament produces Christ.
The Old Testament prophesies Christ, the New Testament proclaims Christ. proclaim
The Old Testament localizes Christ, the New Testament universalizes Christ.
The Old Testament symbolizes Christ, the New Testament sacrifices Christ...
The Old Testament is law which Christ fulfilled, the New Testament is love which Christ exhibits.”…

The Gospel is Jesus’ fulfillment of the Old Testament. I Corinthians 15:3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; 4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures: The Gospel is not just the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ as some of us usually say. Never forget that the Gospel is the death of Christ according to the scriptures, the burial of Christ according to the scriptures, and the resurrection of Christ according to the scriptures!!! This is one thing we must emphasize! Matthew 12:40 For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale’s belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth. This means three full days and three full nights.
Jesus emphasized the importance of His coming in the volume of the book. Luke 24:44 And he said unto them, These are the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, (not just some things) which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me. 45 Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures, 46 And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved (required, demanded) Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day: 47 And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.
Here Christ emphasizes the truth that He did all things according to the scriptures. It “behoved” (It forced) Christ to fulfill all things because it had been established by the counsel and decree of God, (all things must be fulfilled) Matthew 5:18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. Jesus crossed every “t” and dotted every “i” in the volume of the book! God pressed Himself through the roll of the scroll and came out absolutely perfect at the very first of the New Testament era. Hebrews 1:3 Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person,...The word “express” is made up of two words which are “ex” and “press”. Ex means out and press means to push out. Thus, the Spirit God pushed Himself out into the fleshly body of Christ. It was the extrusion of deity through the Written Word into the Living Word. Colossians 1:15 Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature: Jesus is the invisible God made visible in the flesh!
Once I worked in a sheet metal press room with machines that pressed the metal into almost unbelievable shapes under tons of pressure. Was it not the omnipotence of God which forced all of Himself under high pressure through the Written Word into the Living Word? Colossians 2:9 For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.
It was the fulfillment of Isaiah 7:14 “...a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son...” The fulfillment is found to the very letter in Matthew 1:18 ¶ Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost.
The Bible finds its fullness, turning point, and climax in Christ. Colossians 2:9 For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily. He is the content, the theme, and main character of the volume of the book. He is referred to on nearly every page of the Bible.
His birth is the turning point not only of the volume of the book but of time and eternity. His birth split time thus giving us both eternity past before time and eternity future when there should be time no longer: Revelation 10:6 For that is when B.C. became A.D. Our time is counted from His birth. A.D. is “Anno Domini” which means “in the year of our LORD.” A.D. does not mean after the death of Christ but it means when the eternal spirit of God became flesh. “In the year of our LORD” is the greatest period of both time and eternity. What a time it was! II Timothy 3:16 And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh. No one, absolutely no one can argue about this not being the greatest moment of all. It is great “without controversy.” (no argument) This is when the greatest being of the universe came through and out of the volume of the book (the roll of the scroll) into time! What a time, what a time when the inspired scroll was unrolled into the person of Christ and B.C. became A.D. Oh, the precious Word of God!
The Bible is His story. The Old Testament is the prophecy (the pre-written history) of Christ. In the N.T. we have the inspired history of Christ. Therefore is not the inspired scroll His story which comes down to the word, HISTORY when you leave out one “s” and put the two words together! Regardless of what history scholars think the Lord Jesus Christ is the central figure of world history for everything in the past, the present, and future has, does, and will forever revolve around Him! Ephesians 1:10 That in the dispensation of the fulness of times he might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; even in him:
All things in past history looked forward to His incarnation and everything in prophetic history looks forward to His second coming, His Millennial reign on earth, His consummation of all things, and His eternal presence in heaven.
Man originated from dirt. All humans are descended from Adam with the one exception which was Jesus for He descended from the Spirit of God. Thus the great invisible Spirit God became flesh instead of dirt becoming flesh. We can trace our lineage all the way back to dirt. I Corinthians 15:47 The first man is of the earth, earthy: the second man is the Lord from heaven. The Bible traces the origin of Christ to God!!! What an origin. Psalms 2:7 I will declare the decree: the LORD hath said unto me, Thou art my Son; this day have I begotten thee.
The Holy Spirit literally put His Divine life into the Word of God and the Bible became the Living Word in the manger! Matthew 1:20 Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost. Isaiah 7:14 Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel (which being interpreted is, God with us…) This is all literal!
The Old Testament scroll is unrolled in Matthew 1:21 And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins. 22 Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying, 23 Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.
Genesis 3:15 And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel. This is the first prophecy of the virgin birth of Christ because all people are descendents of some man. Men produce another human being. But God produced Christ in Mary’s womb.
The lineage of Christ is found in Matthew 1:1 The book of the generation of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham. 2 Abraham begat Isaac; and Isaac begat Jacob; and Jacob begat Judas… And the lineage goes on with one man begetting another man until verse 16 which says, And Jacob begat Joseph the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus, who is called Christ. It does not say that Joseph beget Jesus because this was different than anything that had ever happened in the begetting (birthing) process. This was a one time happening. The verse says that Jesus was born of Mary. Mary gave Jesus His body, but God the Holy Spirit gave Him all of His other characteristics. God gave Him His perfect and sinless life, His deity, His Spirit, His all knowing mind, and His unlimited power. Here in the manger lay the concentration and condensation of eternal omni-presence, omni-potence, and omniscience in just a few pounds of baby flesh without losing anything. Wonders of wonders God gave Him to us! Isaiah 9:6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.
Christ was the seed (descendent) of the woman (not of Adam), the seed of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and of David, etc. etc. Galatians 3:16 Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ. Christ was the seed (the only direct and sole descendant) of God!
So you see that the Bible is not about us humans from the dust of the earth, but it is all about the one and the only begotten Son of God who is the LORD JESUS CHRIST for He is the only one that came in the volume of the book!
The scriptures are not about the new birth but about the virgin birth of Christ. Had it not been for the virgin birth of Christ there would be no “new birth.” The scriptures are not about men but about the man Christ Jesus. They are not about sinners but about the Savior of sinners. The scriptures are not about the bride but about the bridegroom. Behold, the bridegroom cometh… They are not about the church but about the head of the church. ...he is the head of the body, the church… Once a man was complaining about the deacons trying to put something over on a church. The man kept saying, it’s not them but it’s the body, it’s the body. No, no it’s not the body but the head of the body who is Jesus. It’s the head, it’s the head, it’s always the head! It is never anything nor anyone except the Lord Jesus for He is the only perfect projection from the roll of the scroll! Colossians 1:18 And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.
Christ has the preeminence therefore He is to be placed before and above all things. Colossians 1:17 And he is before all things, and by him all things consist. So says the roll of the scroll.
